Rebate processor goes tits up, many gadget companies affected
Yet another reason never to use mail-in rebates: Continental Promotion Group, a rebate processor for a variety of companies, has filed bankruptcy. If you've filed for a rebate recently for one of the dozens of companies involved, well, good luck.
Here are a few of the companies most recently affected, but there are tons more: Antec, XFX, Acronis, AVG, Canon, Logitech, Smith Micro, TRENDNet.

Oh I don't know Joel, I have applied for and eventually gotten all the rebates I applied for. Granted I have only done it 5 or 6 times so I may be just lucky.
I got $440 bucks back from Canon recently, on top of a near "B&H photo" price from my local dealer. Are telling me I shouldn't have done this?
Rebates *CAN* be risky. I usually have no fear of rebates, but I happen not to have any pending right now. On other deal-oriented forums, however, there have been reports of the manufacturers themselves sending out e-mail to rebate holders saying "don't cash the check -- it will bounce. Instead, mail it to us and we will replace it with a good one."
So, it seems some manufacturers are trying to do the right thing -- good for them. I do not know which ones are and aren't right now, though.
My rebate claim for a Logitech keyboard was rejected a few months ago. Wonder if that was related.
this entire rebate quagmire is a true hassle. It caused me to develop my own rebate system. Something simple, yet really efficient on the back end.
Totally cool, and works!!!
If you can apply to Boing Boing and get that right, you can get your $$$ from my rebate system.
My quandry is this: How do you penetrate these big companies with multiple layers of burocracy just dying to keep a hold on their little piece of the fifedom???
Seriously, I have a great product, well thought out, works well. Just cannot seem to get past "Buffy" the receptionist. Does anyone here know anyone that counts at any of these major companys that were affected by this rebate processor going tits up???
PLEASE HELP!!!
