iPhone OS 2.2 update out now

Rather unexpectedly, Apple has rolled out firmware 2.2 in the middle of the night, which brings Google Street View, over-the-air podcast downloads, mass transit directions and location sharing by e-mail to iPhones and iPod Touches.

Needless to say, if you're jailbroken, you'll want to wait. The Pwnage team don't anticipate any problems, but they stress that a safe jailbreaking path is not imminent.

Whee! Bricked me!

I was able to do a restore from another machine, so at least I have a phone, but...

Unfortunately, the new Maps application isn't included in the iPod touch release; this means no transit directions and no Street View.

The transit directions are awesome here in Montreal. I was looking for an alternative to the Tous Azimuts system and I'm glad I've got it. Paired with the STM App with the full timetable I can finally drop their slow website.

Happy!

The podcast feature isn't as intuitive as I'd like. I'd love to just click one button and sync any new episodes rather than have the app forward me to the itunes store page for that program.

Google Street View isn't available here yet, but there have been reports of black vans and helicopters in the area.... that's Google, right?

Right? Guys?
