Swank IKEA hack turns salad bowls into speakers

ikea_salad_bowl_speakers.jpg

technabob spotted this swank IKEA hack that transforms their 8″ inch Blanda Matt solid birch hardwood bowls into a gorgeous speaker system. As far as I’m concerned, this is what IKEA is: they don’t sell furniture, they simply sell cheap material for gnarly maker hacks.

  1. Pope Bugg IX says:

Ikea also happens to provide, er…”unlimited” free twine and paper tape measures (as long as no one’s looking *cough, cough*), for any fiber-arts-oriented folks out there…

Perfect! I actually bought a pair of ultra cheap COBY speakers for my Mac Mini that sound great but look horrid and have been hunting for a nice way to repackage them.

Also, you know what else IKEA provides for free? Some amazingly hilarious entertainment when you watch people who have never wrapped or packed anything attempt to do so when they leave.

I swear, serve some wine and cheese and let me sit back and take that scene in. Cracks me up every time
