Note that this is an ordinary apple hanging from a branch by a string, not a huge mockup apple hanging from the roof. I would presume it’s the photographer’s visual pun on the (bitten) apple logo visible above the door, rather than the photog commenting on someone else’s comment, until there’s evidence to the contrary.
Though the concept of just leaving the bitten apple hanging there and walking away, for others to discover and figure out, does appeal to me.
