Desktop lamps made of vintage Italian moped handlebars

Picture 27.jpg

Italian craftsman Maurizio Lamponi Leopardi wrenches the necks off of vintage mopeds and crafts their handlebars and headlamp into gorgeous Lambretta scooter lamps. Or, at the very least, he does the next best thing: recreates them without decapitating a perfectly good vintage bike.

How do you make it illuminate what you want? Oh right, sorry, they’re by a designer, so they don’t have to.

They do look good though. I prefer his aviation-style “design” range: http://www.lamponislamps.com/design.html

Actually the Lambretta ones are from scooters not mopeds. The one on the right is probably from a 1960′s Series 3 Li 125-150, however it may be from a Starstream small frame Lambretta of the same era. The one on the right is obviously not from a scooter OR a moped however.

I’m not sure if this belongs here on BBG… The artist’s website specifically states: “My lamps are not gadgets.”

    Ouch?
