Waring Pro Xtreme: With the blast shield down I can't blend a thing!

The new 3.5-horsepower Waring Pro Xtreme commercial blender is so powerful it has its own separate polycarbonate blast shield, just in case your at-home depleted uranium smoothie decides to go ballistic. Just $700 before DARPA funding.

Let me go out on a limb here and state that the polycarbonate blast shield is an unnecessary gimmick.

I'll call you back in from the limb and tell you that it's almost certainly for noise control and not safety.

I dunno what they're made of, but the BlendTec commercial blenders (the Will It Blend guys) that they have at Starbucks all have these shields too, and they advertise it as a noise reduction technology.

I better be able to make a shake out of a cinder block at that price. Anything with a blast shield has got something going for it in my book.

Jeremy Clarkson did make a shake out of cinder blocks on Top Gear, "he" made a blender powered by a V8 engine. It also had raw beef (with the bones still in it, and Tabasco sauce).

I am sure the clip is on all the usually video sharing sites.
