Russian childrens’ wish-fulfilment gadgets

Dark Roasted Blend posts fantastic gadgets designed by Russian children for a local magazine. Though mostly variations of well-worn themes, all have that perfect imaginative touch that kids always bring to the crayola-streaked table. Would you like your universal fabricator with a yellow or a red dinosaur on it, sir?

My favorite is a thought ray designed by Artem Bulavin, 9, and Yulia Romanova, 6, which “would kill all bad thoughts, intentions and all bad ideas.” A long and rewarding career in the London Metropolitan Police force awaits!

My other favorite is the 4,000 year old robot pet designed by Ilia Muntz, 8. It would be immensely powerful, fly faster than any jet, and “pick up objects with his long nose.”

My other other favorite is 5 year old Egor Gortilin’s “Disposable Girlfriend.” Writes Gortilin: “if I get tired of her, I’ll make her drink some hot tea, and she will melt away into nothing.”

I’m not sure that’s technology, Egor. Have you considered designing open-source file systems?

I want a girl who would be like a Father Frost’ daughter – if I get tired of her, I’ll make her drink some hot tea, and she will melt away into nothing.”

Man, those kids are on to something…
