Sony sues Datel over PSP tool

Last week, Sony CEO Howard Stringer delivered a CES keynote in which he announced that open technology had won. A week later, news emerges that Sony is cracking down on third-party add-ons to the Playstation Portable.

Left hand, meet right hand!

It’s upsetting because the PSP is very nearly a perfect handheld everything, caged into a pointless and futile battle with Nintendo by the company’s own lack of imagination.

It’s true, the PSP is a great little device – but ball-bustingly destroyed by whatever marketing plan that Sony favours this year.

And this sort of thing is exactly why I’ve bought a Pandora instead. :D

Oh look Sony being asses again, what a surprise. The PSP is a lovely design, it have some nice games and would be great if it wasn’t so restricted in use. I would buy one if:

    1. Sony didn’t always put their stock holders concerns in front of their customers.
    2. If it didn’t use an expensive proprietary memory stick.
    3. You load your own content onto it via either a memory card or writable discs in a non-proprietary format. Any by content I mean Video, Music and Apps.

Sony make beautiful devices and I think if they made more open devices and stopped spending so much effort and money on restricting their devices they would rule the hardware market and make much more money!

Sony has a real problem with letting go of the PSP once it’s been sold.

    It’s regorramdiculous.
