Historical integrity of medieval era in scant effect at AppStore

Carl S. Pyrdum, the author of Got Medieval, enjoys the iPod Touch he got for christmas. He even blogs with it. Unfortunately, it turns out that there’s little on offer to please the tastes of a dedicated lover of history.

We are currently experiencing a global shortage of medieval wallpaper for our iPod Touches and iPhones. When I did a search for medieval ipod wallpaper, the first thing I got was this. As always, I try to keep an open mind about questions of periodization, but I’m pretty sure that Buffy the Vampire Slayer holding a riding crop isn’t going to make it into the Norton Anthology of Medieval Iconography any time soon.

Carl offers up a first alternative. Shall we start a flickr group, perhaps?

If THAT’S medieval, I’m joining the SCA forthwith.

Off point: I dare question his intelligence (all humour aside) if all he does is go looking for *iPod* wallpapers. An image is an image.

If you find wallpaper featuring Sarah Michelle Geller holding a riding crop and giving you a “You’ve been naughty” look, your search for wallpaper is done.

Really, why can’t he take one of his nancyboy history pictures and make it into wallpaper? I use nancyboy in the most reverent sense.
