Waterproof cellphones, at last!
In Japan, Fujitsu also makes phones. They're of the style so common in Japan—flat, rectangular clamshells—but are shiny, pretty and, as of now, waterproof. Offered by carrier NTTDoCoMo, it'll survive for half an hour in up to a meter of water.

Many Japanese cellphones are waterproof now. It was the trend last summer.

Fantastic. If people calling you from the toilet wasn't bad enough, now they'll be calling from the shower.

I honestly can't believe that waterproof cellphones haven't come along sooner than this. I guess "The Man" sells more phones when people wash them with their jeans though.

Casio sold the G'zOne in Japan 4 years ago through AU/KDDI. It was a waterproof ruggedized phone with a compass, GPS and all the other usual stuff. It was truly waterproof. Let it soak in a pint of beer once, washed it off and it was in perfect condition.
It also had the design styling of Casio G-Shock watches. Unfortunately when Verizon brought it to the US they gutted many of the features and hacked an antenna, ruining its styling, turning it into an ugly, overpriced phone that's only claim to fame is that it was waterproof.
When you live in Japan you don't realize how far behind the phones are in the US. When you live in the US you don't know how out of date your phones are compared with the world.

Does anyone know where this phone can be purchased? How much? Can it work in the US network? Is it unlocked? What are the specs of this phone? thanks
