Pretty cool timeline, but I’m not entirely sure why there is a pile of imacs in the middle, nor why the iBook has been labeled as a Macbook. Also, no eMac? And the Powerbook G3 and Powermac G3 labels are the wrong way around..!? Actually every time I look at this I find something else wrong with it…

I remember seeing a better version of this about a year ago…

@1 The images are culled from Apple advertising. That ring of iMacs is representitive of that campaign. Cerntering it on the timeline is also visually pleasing.

  3. dculberson says:

The iMac also marked an enormous turn-around for Apple, both in design and in business.

  4. Agies says:

@3 So very true. There’s a sharp divide on the timeline where the iMac appears. Things are much more “sexy” after it is introduced.

  5. Blue says:

No Mac Mini? Whatever the merits of the actual computer, the design was significant.

  6. mdh says:

as mr blue said, no mini.

    also, no Quadra.
    also, no LCIII.

The Timeline completely skips the performa line of Macs in the early mid nineties. Are they trying to hid e the bad and only spot light the good models?

How is it that I bought a TAM (Twentieth Anniversary Mac) from 1997 if they’re just celebrating Mac’s 25th anniversary 12 years later? Hmmmm.

    Dr. Theopolis

  9. dimmer says:

The TAM recognized 20 years of Apple, not the Mac. This year is the 25th anniversary of the Mac, not Apple.

BTW am I alone in not finding the graphic “good” in any way? Seems like something an Adobe intern would produce before making their transition to the fast food industry.
