Asus 1000HE with 9.5 hours battery life available for pre-order
Juice and a workable keyboard are the only things that really matter to me in a netbook, and that's why the Asus Eee 1000HE looks swank. It's basically the 1000HA except with a chiclet keyboard, 802.11 draft n support, Bluetooth and a toted 9.5 hour battery life. And grok that right shift key! It's on the correct side of the arrow keys! Dig!
All for $400 with a $25 discount if you join the Eee PC Facebook group. You can pre-order it now, if you're so inclined, which you may as well do, since there'll be another netbook to capture your fancy in a week's time, and another after that, ad infinitim. You've got to take the plunge sometime.
Gearlog notes the 1000HE is the first to use Intel's newer Atom 280 chip, with a slightly faster front side bus and better integrated graphics.

9.5 hours battery life... that's got to be, what, 8 hours of usage by real people? Sweet.
This really tempts me. I just got done installing eeebuntu NBR on a friend's 1000H, and I had a tingly feeling from the experience. Fast boot times, good interface, and everything just worked. 9.5 hours of battery life makes this all the more tempting...
That is awesome. As an owner of a 1000HA (6-cell), the 1000HE makes me intensely jealous.
