Toshiba TG01 smartphone, a beautiful iSlab you'll soon forget

tg01.jpg

Toshiba's upcoming smartphone, the TG01, is their stab at the heart of Apple, its 1GHz processor, 800 by 480 pixel display, and microSD memory expansion slot blunted to near uselessness by the abrasive folds of Windows Mobile 6.1. [via CrunchGear]

If the 2000s are remembered as the decade of amazing mobile hardware breakthroughs, the 2010s will be the decade software finally catches up to the hardware.

Why in the world would Toshiba craft something so beautiful and not stick Android on it at the very least?

(n.b. If the 2010s are the decade software catches up to the hardware, the 2020s had better be the decade batteries finally catch up to to everything else.)

I saw this elsewhere and as I read the specs I was thinking to myself that it looked pretty neat. I almost spat out my drink when I saw it was using Windows Mobile.

Yes this is a total outrage! Why should people who use Microsoft as part of their daily business and wish to integrate this with their smartphone be given a choice of nicely designed hardware?

Everyone knows that nicely designed hardware should only be allowed for cool and hip Apple users and other like minded people!

"Blunted by abrasive folds" is an interesting construction. I don't quite get it, but it's interesting. Something to do with sandpaper?
