Toy Fair: Cuddly Giraffe vs. Ambien: FIGHT

DSC_0039.JPG

Gentle Giraffe, the latest murmuring entry in the Sleep Sheep ‘n’ Friends line of white-noise generating pillow toys. lulls you to sleep with safari trail noises, a sampling of the Victoria Falls, or groovy African music.

When asked why we should consider this for one’s offspring instead of powerful and addictive narcotics, the lady at the booth looked at us like we were crazy or something. Hey, it either works or it doesn’t, lady!

Does anybody make a sound-box for toy animals that’ll play a user-specified sound when you squeeze it?
Leopards Etc. (a large cat education foundation http://www.leopardsetc.com) used to have a cat-sized leopard that purred (with a purr recorded from one of their cats), which they’d gotten made in a big batch by some random Chinese company. My cat enjoyed kneading on the thing to make it purr, and he’s now worn out the sound box, and we haven’t been able to find a replacement for it (and they’ve run out of the original batch.)
