Dell Mini 10 not all that good, says Laptop Mag

Laptop mag has Dell’s Mini 10 laptop in. It’s not much cop.

The Inspiron Mini 10 puts Dell into the 10-inch netbook race, but other netbooks provide better bang for your buck. … Once Dell begins to offer the Mini 10 with a six-cell battery, built-in mobile broadband, integrated GPS, and TV tuner capability, it will become more compelling.

Writer Joanna Stern recommends you get the NC10 or an Eee PC instead. We recommend the MSI Winds and Dell’s own Mini 9, because it’s easy to install a better operating system on them.

Yeah the 10 and the 12…not so good.

The Mini 9 really is the gem, but not everyone likes the small screen, nor can learn to swing a thumb for an apostrophe instead of a pinky on it’s keyboard.

Also not everyone is willing to do the stuff I’ve done to mine that makes it such a joy to me.

The Minis 10 and 12 are lackluster offerings by comparison, most likely just there to leverage interest in the segment at the lowest possible cost to Dell.

-and it shows in the Minis 10 and 12.

Eh…. do any netbooks have that combination of features? GPS and TV seem particularly odd.

That all said, I’ll pick up a Mini as soon as they include a 6-cell battery — I suppose the same would go for the Samsung netbook as well.

DOn’t buy Dell mini 10, TV tuner not working and get Hell (not Dell) from customer service.
