⌦ Trackball – This isn’t so much of a deal—$15 mail-in rebate for a shipped price of $53—but I figure you trackball types need any deal you can get. This one is just $16 after rebate.
⌦ Heart Rate Monitor – Reebok Precision XT Heart Rate Monitor for $30, shipped. [Dealhack]
⌦ Chuck E. Cheese – Buy 60 tokens, get 40 free. And there’s some deal for pizza, too. Anyone been to a Chuck E. Cheese lately? I wonder if they still look like they’re from the ’80s inside, with the same animatronic bands and everything. [Bargainist]
⌦ Netbook – Refurbished netbooks, oh my! I didn’t even begin to think about how cheap they’d get when the refurbs started rolling in. Here’s an Acer Aspire One (1GB RAM, 120GB HDD, XP Home) for $242, shipped. [Dealnews]
⌦ Portable Media Player – The large but powerful Archos 605 media player has a 30GB HDD, 800×480 pixel touchscreen, wi-fi, and supports quite a bit of different streaming media systems. [Dealnews]
⌦ Head Lamp – Today’s Woot is a Garrity 1 Watt Pivoting Luxeon LED Headlamp for $15, shipped.

I was in one a few years ago to settle a bet. It was the same one I’d gone to as a kid and looked very different. There was a lot more security and they gotten rid of the animatronics. It looked more like a Vegas casino than anything else. Which makes perfect sense if you picture all of the games as slot machines, the goal is the same.
My Gran’Daughter *adores* “Chuck-A-Cheese!” The Greenwood, In, franchise still has the animatronic band, but they mostly play videos of costumed characters singing & playing with kids.
When I was a kid in the early 80s, Chuck E Cheeze served beer, had all the newest and coolest video games, and the animatronics, and was just as big a hang out for young adults as for kids.
I visited one about 10 years ago for a kids birthday party, it was strictly oriented to young children. No animatronics or music, no beer, and only a sad collection of children’s coin-op machines.
The last time I was in the San Bruno, CA Chuck E Cheese (about a year ago), it still had the animatronic band. And the had beer on tap (Bud and Miller) plus there was a Rose wine tap as well.
And it is still one of the most hellish awful places on the planet.
I was shanghaied into going to one last weekend with my niece and nephew and after getting over all the blatant games they have to take kids’ tokens with little return, it was actually fun. Especially trying to teach the kids to roll and not throw randomly into the crowd, the skeeball balls.
Was in one about six years ago with my little cousins. Still the animatronics, still the beer, still the terrifying mascot waltzing around getting his tail pulled.
But the pizza is much less delicious than I remembered.
