Tramontana R-edition: Formula 1 + TIE Fighter + Street Legality

tramr.jpg

The Tramontana R-edition is a 720-HP, V12-powered car that actually exists. Half-a-million dollars sounds reasonable for a street-legal Formula 1 car in this economic climate. [via Core77]

I wonder where the 5.5L twinturbo V12 is from. If its their own engineering I'm mucho impressed.

720hp and under 2800 pounds. Ouch. That's about the same weight as my old Miata. Just add 600 more horsepower.

There are certainly lighter and faster cars, especially within that price range, but that thing is pretty damn cool.

My question is, when will The Stig take it for a ride on Top Gear?

Ladies and Gentlemen... the next Batmobile.

Those carbon fiber wheels are incredible. The view from the rear is particularly nice.

I thought it was a toy model, then I saw the bottom photo - Oh-ho DAMN!!!

Why can't the rest of us get cars designed like this?

I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to give a poo-poo comment again. I like the styling on this one, but c'mon. 720 hp? V12? seriously, how less responsible can a vehicle be made?

I'm of the opinion that the race circuit is one of the leading causes of our bloated, gas-guzzling street vehicles. Engineers of race cars should be embarrased. Who cares if you can make a really fast car; that parts easy. But can you do it at 60, 80 or 100 mpg?

NASCAR, F-1 and the rest should self impose a mileage rate on all of the vehicles approved for racing. Then you'd see some major advances on the efficiency of all vehicles.

I would think, in the end, that it would be to a team's advantage anyways. Pit stops can seiously damage the overall race time so if you can eliminate one or two by improving efficiency, why not?

I admit that I have little knowledge of the racing industry and gladly await responses explaining the error in my thinking.

on the click thru it has pics of the interior. Its a one plus one seating arangement and I think it's a car that truly needs a 'no fat chicks' sticker..

she says: Hey that's insultive!
you say: No actually look! I can barely fit a lunchbox in there!!!

Where would you find streets that you could drive that on, given the minimal ground clearance? Nebraska?
