BMW Group Designworks USA x Thermaltake concept gaming PC
BMW Group Designworks USA built this "Level 10" concept gaming PC in partnership with Thermaltake, a fine pairing, since it would be a challenge to keep the wwhole thing cool without air being ducted through a case from front to back. Still, it's undoubtedly attractive. I'd go through the trouble to find compatible hardware free from pesky (and at the moment necessary) wiring across the entire chassis. [via Core77]

I want one...
It's beautiful. Hopefully it comes with an optional feather-duster attachment for all those nooks :)
I covet this.
Actually it would be rather simple for a designer. The military uses similar designs for their modular systems.
You design a volatage backplane. Not only would the motherboard be connected but every piece of hardware would be connected to the proper voltage trace. Instead of wires connecting the hardware, they just plug into the backplane.
The voltage backplane and the motherboard would be the vertical portion of the computer. Everything else would hang off it.
The cooling would be provided by a non-electrically-conductive liquid which in the picture would be the black material surrounding the hardware. Coupled with low-voltage hardware designed for laptops and other small scale computers, it would be efficently cooled.
I'm just a geek here, not an engineer! -)

They finally did it.
Since the 80's, I've been hard-pressed to find a computer that actually looks futuristic. From movies to case modders, stylized enclosures always end up looking like the "ricers" of street racing -- gaudy, flashy, but lacking any notion of power, elegance, or futurism.
But this -- this looks like something taken from the engineering floor of the Starship Enterprise. It's sleek, shiny, but with a chunky, industrial feel to it. It doesn't look like a black box, but it definitely looks like there's magic inside of it. I bet, if I put that in my car, it would add at least 50HP.
