Similar to the Asus model we just reviewed, Shuttle’s X50 is another nettop all-in-one. It too has a touchscreen 15.6″ display with a 1366×768 screen resolution, 1 GB of RAM and an Atom CPU from Intel.
I has a 160GB hard drive, a webcam, gigabit ethernet and WiFi, and is sold with Windows XP. There are 5 USB ports and a memory card reader.
How, then, does it differ? Where the Eee is round, the X50 is square. And it has a handle.

given that i’ll never be able to compare this side-by-side with the ASUS, i suggest rob use his internet-power to get his hands on the x-50 and do a review.
according to the slashgear article, price for this is expected to be $100 less than the ASUS. i’m all for saving money, but if the interface and touchscreen capabilities of the ASUS is simpler and easier to use, i’d toss in the extra benny for that one for the mother.
These devices makes the 3com Audrey I bought at a yard sale seem rather worthless. It has 640×480 mid 90′s lcd touchscreen tied to a very limited OS, but I love the looks..

I just noticed that the Shuttle also has VGA, not present in the Eee Top.
nice, this is about what I’m looking for.
They only need to answer two questions:
1. Will it play 720p video?
2. Will it run linux?
If it does both, I’m saving up for one. I might just save up for one anyway. By the time I have $500 for something like this I’m sure the latest version will answer yes to both my questions.
From the photo, apparently the handle is to allow it to be used as a modesty screen when you realize your skirt is too short.

Not sure on the 720p, but these will almost certainly run linux unless they picked a really weird chipset.

1366×768? ~1.77 ratio… interesting. I’ve never seen something with that resolution.
