Elegant One tea kettle does not exist

one_works-16.jpg.jpg

Both kettle and pitcher, the One from Vessel Ideation can be set on a gas hob, its blue porcelain-like print becoming apparent when the water is at the right temperature for tea. Then place the pot on a trivet that attaches magnetically to the bottom and keep it on the table next to you. Neat, pretty, and nonexistent. (My apologies for posting a concept device, but I’m a sucker for housewares. As are others, apparently, as the One won an award at a recent Tea-Off design competition.) [via Cool Hunting]

Cool, but step 5 should read “Burn the piss out of your hand”.

Otherwise I’m all for the fancy magnetic holder and color changing bottom.

    Problem: heat demagnetizes.

    Velcro perhaps?

hi folks. it’s from our studio, and the site should present it as only a concept (until we can say more).

as for the problems pointed out, they are addressed (viewable in
    the pdf download):

    1) heat issues on the hand: the kettle is a double-walled insulated container to keep the steam of the chimney away from the grip area. additionally, the grip area is molded out of high temp silicone to protect the hand (like an orka oven mitt).

    2) head DOES demagnetize metal. that’s why we prescribed franklinite for the magnetic puck in the base—one of a few
paramagnetic (also hematite) metals that become strongly magnetic when heated.

    thanks for your interest—
