Years ago, women like this were supposed to make fun of people like you for loving Star Trek. Now they’re making a living promoting it — and not just at Comic-Con, but at “hipster” dance parties in L.A. The geek chic pendulum has officially swung as far as it can.

Update: Here’s the t-shirt they were giving away there, from the failed eBay auction. It’s a riff on this Beatles t-shirt by a Japanese designer whose name I’ve forgotten. Too bad it says Cobrasnake on it. – Joel
Update 2:
The poster is by Jesse Phillips, but I can’t find it for sale anywhere. I sent him an email to ask if Paramount is selling any, though. – Joel

I don’t know what a hipster is, but suddenly I want to go to their parties.
Not all forms of mockery take the form of a pointed finger and a shouted, “NERD!”…
I sort of want that poster.
they totally would not be doing this if they weren’t desperate for a job.
@3, it’s because that poster is full of awesome! WANT!
models SMASH!
@#4
They’re models. In LA. Gold could be available from water taps and they would still be desperate for jobs.
These women used to be ON Star Trek.
#1: Hipsters suck, no you don’t.
Those models make me want to boldly go where Kirk has gone before.

The poster is cool and green chicks are green, but C’MON Star Trek is SOOO PLAYED OUT. I have zero desire to see the new movie.
Experimental Jetset, not a Japanese designer.
