Designer Mark Pohlkamp’s LIT Urban Underglow is a long LED tube that changes color via remote. 16 colors and four preset “light shows” can be yours for $200… Or you could save $44 and book a seat on Virgin from NY to London. Tough call in this economy.

At last. A couch that glows just like my neighbor’s kid’s beat-up ’96 Honda.
Does it come with an oversize exhaust pipe as well?
“a under LED cat kit”
Now THAT I need to see!
200 bucks?
Why not get something with more features?

Yeah but I bet Virgin dusts under the couch more than I do.
Sorry man. Pass.
Or just get the $40 (non-remote) set of 4 LED strips at Ikea. They also cycle through a series of colors, about 8 or so, and are very small and flat and easy to mount anywhere.
Ha ha! No thanks, my couch doesn’t need ground effects.

$200 would get you an Arduino and plenty of BlinkMs for a crazy light show that you could program, control via remote, or any other of nearly endless possibilities. Put in a bend sensor and have them turn on when you sit on the couch, to name but one idea.
The great thing about the BlinkMs is that they only need the Arduinio for programming and then their built-in microcontroller stores the sequence and will run it on boot. They only need an Arduino if you want them to be interactive (respond to inputs and/or sensors).
Not sure what the “new” idea here is. I have one under my bed for about 3 years now. Used a under LED cat kit. Also has multiple lights, different flash programs and even flashes to the beat of the music. Only $80. Like the idea but not new.
Ricer.
We’ve had an $8 blue rope light under our bed for years. No zippy effects, but hey, eight bucks!
Pretty pointless and outdated if you can’t Twitter the shade you’re using.

Wow! embelish you dust! pink dust, yellow dust, green dust and even purple. I’m getting one.
