    It works here in sweden

  2. Roy Blake says:

“This video is not currently available” here in Canada. :-(

  3. Anonymous says:

It doesn’t seem to work in Canada (aka terrorist central). I had to watch the ads first to find this out, though. Apparently advertising knows no boundaries.

  4. Anonymous says:

I can watch programs other than Nova (like Masterpiece), but I get the same message as Roy Blake for Nova (I’m also in Canada)

  5. jordawesome says:

You used to be able to watch the Nova videos in Canada — that’s how I saw Brian Greene’s “Elegant Universe.” and the recent Absolute Zero one. I’ve also watched some episodes of Frontline from Canada. Apparently those days are over.

If I’ve learned anything from the interminable pledge breaks during Fawlty Towers marathons, Canadians help to bankroll American public TV. You think we’d be able to at least watch what we apparently support.

  6. jordawesome says:

I should clarify — I can still watch Frontline from Canada. Just not Nova. D’oh.

  7. chdunk says:

    ixnay in the austria-ay.

  8. DeeZed says:

All the vids work here in the Vancouver region. May be because I am trying it out from a university and am on the CANet/EduNet or whatever they call it. Will have to try watching when I get home.

  9. Pincinator says:

    Works in the UK

  10. Stakker says:

    Finland receiving loud and clear.

  11. Jwilliam says:

As a Canadian, but not a Terrorist, I’m watching them.

  12. alpinegizmo says:

    Working here in Germany.

‘This content is currently unavailable.’ in Portugal.

    Temporary, maybe?

  14. Anonymous says:

Not working for me in the UK (Manchester / BeUnlimited)

‘This content is currently unavailable.’ in Australia

  16. Garr says:

    “this content is currently unavailable”

I’m in Germany, and I don’t know if that counts just for the one video I tried to watch, or the service as a whole.

    Not working in New Zealand.

Hi there, I come in peace fellow NOVA fans!

Just as an FYI: the ability to watch PBS videos outside of the US depends totally on the rights that we’re able to acquire, and the rights that our independent content producers have for any raw footage.

So it’s a little hit or miss.

  19. Rob Beschizza says:

I think it might know if you’re a terrorist — try thinking of puppies and cakes when accessing the file.

  20. AirPillo says:

I also just noticed recently that a couple PBS programs I had queued to instant-watch on Netflix are marked as only being available until early next month.

    Just a coincidence?

  21. strider_mt2k says:

Oh man there goes the rest of my life.

    I love Nova!
In school I’d boast about seeing it three times by the time they showed it in class.
My teacher would test me right there and I’d get out of having to watch it again and got the credit for the test!

At the time it allowed me to jump back into my Ray Bradbury reading obsession so it all worked out.

    You’d think I’d have gotten better grades…

  22. Blaine says:

Almost 20 years later. Any time I see or hear the words “Nova” I immediately have the voice of Johnny Five in my head.

    NOVA!!!

  23. Anonymous says:

Not available via a CDN govt high-speed line, so I guess Ms. Napolitano’s comments (lies) last week about Canada being a terrorist haven are having the desired effect.

  24. icepick method says:

    This isn’t new…

You’ve been able to watch nova and frontline online for a couple years now. Too bad i’ve seen them all. Their schedule is so wonky, 3 new episodes for 3 weeks, then nothing for 6 months, then a new ep. then nothing. What’s even worse is when they just broadcast months old bbc docs as a new episode.

  25. rebdav says:

    This content currently unavailable.
    Israel

  26. DeeZed says:

Update – it seems that we Canuckian terroristas do not have access to the non-news oriented stuff even if we reside on university soil.

  27. Anonymous says:

“This content currently unavailable” for American taxpayers in Japan.

  28. Freddy de la Cruz says:

‘This content is currently unavailable.’ in Chile.

Only propaganda and ads for the south americans (not sub-americans)

“Global Village?” Only to sell stuff.

    Back to the torrents…

Wow on the inconsistencies in Canada!

All Canadian Border State PBS stations acknowledge the love of edutainment from their northern neighbours, yet Canucks well know American exclusionist tendencies!

Given that Canadians don’t even respect their own media, how can we expect a society as exclusionist as the Merkans to respect their own artists, scientists, or global contributions?

I want more Red Green show.

Two episodes of Red Green, then fifteen minutes of somebody asking me for money (because I have to go to the bathroom sometime), then an episode of NOVA. There’s a perfect evening.

  31. Anonymous says:

it does not work in slovakia :-(

  32. Anonymous says:

And not currently available in Norway. Just as everything else that’s nice, like Hulu, Netflix and Amazon’s mp3 store. And the dunces wonder why there’s “piracy”.

  33. Anonymous says:

    PLEASE GET NOVA BACK
From Canada “Unavailable in Canada”!!!!! I want it back. Please! Nova is great and you can’t just get rid of something like that.

  34. Neva says:

Why aren’t we outraged that these online programs are not available in Canada?

We pay to watch these shows on cable TV. Why then are they cut off on the Internet?

Who is responsible for this barrier to information? The archaic Canadian government? The cowardly Canadian cable companies?

Another attempt to push lousy Canadian content over much better produced and directed foreign content? Archaic policies for required Canadian-content quotas and barriers to foreign competition.

Canadian media and movies are second rate because the industries are protected from better foreign comeption. The industry flourishes without having to excel or compete.

    What a backward country!

  35. Sup says:

    Does not work in Denmark.

  36. Carlos Barajas says:

Does not work in Mexico anymore, it used to.

  37. John Brewer says:

Strange about restrictions as to who can watch, any careful study at the end of many PBS program be it Nova, Nature or a host of others will show sponsorship by the BBC or the Film Board of Canada or Both, my tax doallars educating Americans. Now that is a monumental task.
