Star Wars chess set replaces imagination with silver and gold

For over five hundred dollars, I really wish this Star Wars chess set were less ugly. Or maybe it's not even ugly that bothers me, but the lack of imagination. I know that pawns are all supposed to look the same, but there's an entire universe of odd aliens out there and they've got to use the same hunched pilot figure eight times?

I've always wanted to join chess sets for odd pairings: Star Wars vs. Simpsons, Simpsons vs. Muppets, New York Yankees vs. Star Trek TNG.

Even worse, it appears that the two droids are knights and Chewbacca and the Jedi (presumably Luke) are bishops. That's just dumb. IMO it should be the other way around. Who the heck created this set?

For over $500 you'd think they might at least have ACTUAL silver or gold plating.

At least all the pieces are from the original trilogy, from what I can see anyway.

For a tenth of the price I got a super cool LEGO chess set at Legoland when I took my kids. I think the only way to really overwhelm myself with cool is if I built a Star Wars LEGO chess set...
