“Earthmate” compact fluorescent light bulbs come with their own postage-paid mailer so you can send back burnt-out bulbs to manufacturer Waste Management. (A company which has really been getting into the Green game lately, I’ve noticed, with sites like ThinkGreen.com and big ads in magazines talking about the wildlife that lives next to their landfills.)
There’s a price, of course: Four bulbs cost $34>. As Treehugger points out, Home Depot will sell you 14 bulbs for $40—and let you recycle in-store.

According to the box artwork they are Twitter enabled. “Light On!” “Light Off!” “Light On!” “Light Off!”
So far, all the CF bulbs I’ve seen give off a ghastly light which I don’t want in my home. If someone manages to overcome that drawback, I might consider putting up with the toxicity and hassle and start using them.
The innumerate-feel-good-hippie tax is strong with this one.
Why have they stolen Twitter’s artwork?
by “green game” you mean “profitable scam” right?
IKEA, Home Depot and probably a bunch of other stores accept CFLs for recycling/disposal
Just try to find the mailer 7 years later when the bulb burns out…
