PXP looks like a PSP, emulates the classics

At $90, it's simply too expensive, but this PSP knockoff runs ROMS from lots of classic systems: NES, SNES, Gameboy 'n' Color, and the Megadrive/Genesis. As Gizmodo commenter Zaxxon Q Blaque points out, it appears to be a Dingoo in PSP clothing. [Chinagrabber via Technabob and Giz]

Hey, speaking of PSPs, I'm thinking of getting a portable gaming system. I want to play RPGs on it. Should I go for a PSP or a DS?

You'll be satisfied by either. Bucketloads of good games.

If you are considering one of these then PLEASE look into the Dingoo A320.

It deserves a blog entry more than this thing does.

It costs about the same as this depending on where you get it, and it's a much more capable and better supported machine.

I've been thrilled with mine, and there is a growing community as well that is beginning to develop firmware and themes and such.

Why? PSP already emulates classics.

Um, a modded PSP can ROM it up like crazy as it is. Of course, they cost more, though they also have other attributes too.

@Pensador: It depends on what flavor of RPG you like. I'm also an rpg junkie and have both systems. The PSP is great for turn-based strategy (Jeanne d'Arc is a must-play; Final Fantasy Tactics was ported for it with new animations, characters, and battles), with a few traditional JRPGs. The DS, meanwhile, has scads and scads of standard RPGs, including some really groundbreaking stuff (such as The World Ends with You).

Overall, (a lot) more games come out for the DS, but the PSP games are usually of a higher caliber.

Take a look at metacritic's review summaries of highly ranked games and you'll get an idea of what's good about each system from a game pov. RPGfan might be helpful too: http://www.rpgfan.com/reviews.html

A PSP or DS is not a device of this type.
