Best Made Axes are for show

Best Made Co.'s axes are simple and beautiful—and at $250 and up, too expensive to be used. But they'll look lovely crossed over the mantle of your mid-century modern cabin. [via Uncrate]

Reminds me of my grandfather's axe.
-all except the handle and the blade, that is.

Oh, c'mon, Joel. Every single model has a doe's foot! Those tarted-up, ground-to-shape axes are strictly for greenhorns and city folk.
THESE are top-quality axes:

Here's a page for Americans about them:

I'll admit Gransfors-Bruks axes aren't as good as my 19th century big-eye Rival, but they're still damn good. Uh-huh, still good.

I'm sure it's a fine ax but I think you could spend less for a decoration, or for something just as useful, such as

I find the pic of Carrie Nation on their page distasteful. Damn busybody vandal - why not have a pic of Jack Nicholson in The Shining while they're at it?

Shoot... I can make an axe just as purty with some sanding, polishing and a nice varnish.
I might be a motion graphics artist, but I live in the redwoods and buck, split and season my own firewood for free heat during the winter, where i live there's never a shortage of people with firewood to give away.... and I can tell you the first time you use one of them fancy axes it's going to get scratched up to heck.
These remind me of those $700 dollar folding pocket knives. Made well, beautiful and totally useless.
All I need is a stout collins axe, a splitting maul, sledgehammer and my chainsaw.
One of these would be nice too...

These are brilliant and only rookies use terms like "Greenhorns and cityfolk"... Axes are a symbol of hard work and everyone really should have one! Major collectors item that I will def be purchasing.
Love this!
