The spaced out covers of Advanced Materials

If the covers of Advanced Materials, a peer-reviewed science journal published every month by Wiley, were offered as a series of posters, I would not be made of strong enough stuff to resist.

I work at Wiley and am wondering if you'd really buy these as posters?

I would, but that doesn't mean anyone else would!

There are some journal editors/publishers that I think just get bored easily--I'm looking at the cover of Neurosurgery right now, and for some reason, the journal--which is, as you might have guessed, concerned exclusively with neurosurgery--features a photo of the B-2 stealth bomber. Why? Dunno.

Reminds me of the first few years' of Computer Language magazine, which were wonderfully abstract. (CL begat Software Development, which was later folded into Dr. Dobb's Journal.) Can't seem to find an archive of old cover shots anywhere on the web, though, and my back issues are in storage. (No, I have no idea why I've held onto 25-year-old programming magazines.)

Hi, I'm Dave Flanagan, the Deputy Editor of Advanced Materials. Thanks for featuring our covers! We put a lot of work into showcasing the exciting results our authors publish in our journal.

In fact, you can order a poster of your favorite cover (great for scientists and science fans). The next version of our news website, materialsviews.com, will have a section where you can order posters. Until then, just drop us an email at advmat@wiley-vch.de, and we'll send you info for ordering an A3 or A2 poster of your favorite cover.
