Light-activated fridge guard plays recorded messages

Hoping that the Fridge Recorder was an inconspicuous surveillance device, I am crushed by disappointment: it’s just a toy that detects the fridge light and plays a message. On the other hand, there’s not much to surveil inside a refrigerator. [Drinkstuff via Technabob]

   Maybe it’s not good as-is, but there’s obvious modding potential here. Replace the speaker with a camera, up the memory, and suddenly you have a device for proving that your roommate ate the leftovers with your name on them.

   Either that, or proof that you’ve got a really smart pet…

   I think it could have great prank material. Load it up with the Wilhelm scream and leave it in the fridge. Should stop the 3am fridge raids…

   This would have been handy back when I had a roommate who would eat all my food at 4am while drunk.
