Amazon has the baby blue Peek on special at $20, with free shipping.

If you want unlimited mobile email without a contract (the plan is $20 a month, cancel/reup any time) this is a no-brainer–but remember than the latest version of the operating system, with more features, only comes on the full-price Pronto edition.

Older peeks (versions 1.04 to 1.08) they will upgrade free. For 1.09, you can buy a $30 upgrade.

Please be advised that while the software upgrade is dead simple to perform- (in about 20 minutes) It requires the use of a special cable. (Sorry folks…though it looks like a regular USB, it most assuredly isn’t.) The cable, for those so inclined, is available from peek for around $15.

  3. Blaine says:

I actually got mine for $14 at Target.

And the difference between a regular Peek and a Peek Pronto is cosmetic and software. You can also buy a USB cable that fits and upgrade it yourself.

  4. zuzu says:

Isn’t the Peek hardware the same across all models? It’s just the software?

  5. obo says:

Peeks 1.06 and newer have better keyboards. That’s about the only hardware difference.

  6. Roger says:

Target: $9.95 for baby blue and 11.95 for black

I think the new one has “Pronto” written on it.
