Reebok Vector O baseball bat
The Reebox "Vector O" bat has three holes in the shaft, designed to be more aerodynamic than traditional baseball bats to pass on every last bit of force into the ball. First reviews are generally positive, but at $300 or more on the street, the Vector O is for competitive ballplayers only. [via Uncrate]

I thought complex shapes like that were less aerodynamic. (More surface area, more turbulence, etc.) But, then, I am not an aerodynamics engineer.
Even if there was an aerodynamic advantage to that shape, in order to get any benefit from it would require a very, very precise and specific swing. Seems like a gimmick to sell $300 bats to the kids of the wealthy.

#1: Maybe we should be getting rid of all those holes in tennis rackets, too. All that surface area on those strings ;)

They're speed holes. They make it go faster.

I don't think the holes make the bat better because of 'aerodynamics'. It's a weight issue. Same as corking a bat. makes it lighter for a faster swing. In this case, it would also shift the centre of mass further toward the end.

Perhaps a VTEC sticker would help?

For $300, it should have a talking GPS unit in it, and a gimbaled gyroscope in a windowed chamber, and a battery and stepper motors to align internal weights on pistons, and a camera and a flashlight in both ends098. Also it should dispense body-building medication and tobacco-flavored Pez candy. And it should have some sort of encrypted security to make it impossible for criminals to switch bats and confuse you. And you should be able to load stage-smoke pellets (or just several regular cigarets) inside it to make wind-tunnel-style airflow lines around it when you swing it.

All high quality baseball bats cost over 250 dollars with some topping out at over 400 dollars so the price range is right in the area.

I think these would certainly help it go faster, if it were oriented correctly through the swing.
Which is easier to swing, a large solid wooden paddle used for beach tennis, or the same paddle with holes drilled in it?
Sure, it's a little lighter, but without the holes, you can really feel yourself pushing through air resistance.

So, say you buy this ridiculous bat, what league is going to let you play with it? Every league that I have ever played in limits which bats you can play with, and I would bet that one isn't on any list.

Considering that a regular old wooden baseball bat goes for $700 in Mob Wars on Facebook, this seems like a deal.
/what?

The bat is legal in all baseball play including but not limited to: NCAA, NFHS (High School), AAU, Sr. League, Little League, Pony League, Dixie League, AABC, Babe Ruth League, Call Ripken League.
It's hardly ridiculous and to be honest with you is quite brilliant since every single day coaches drive home the concept to ballplayers to "get their hands through the zone quicker" and "work on increasing your swing speed" in order to drive the ball farther. Now this bat helps the player do that and makes their swing much more efficient in putting energy into the pitched ball.

Two of the people praising the potential efficacy of this appear to have no prior comment history...
I'd use it for smuggling.

Concept is right and it will give players using it edge on other players. But is it approved by base ball Association?
