Monster Remote Control

From Monster Cables comes the MCC AV50 Home Theater Controller, a $50 universal remote. [PC Mag]

Wouldn’t that 1970s look be great for one of those play-any-ROM retro handheld game consoles?

It also doesn’t look like a very good universal remote.

A $50 remote control…that is the cheapest thing Monster sells, a monster remote (which of course improves the quality of the I/R communication) should cost at least $500…maybe a typo.

The endcaps need oak woodgrain contact paper.

I’m with #7, #8, and #9. I actually dig it, I just wish they’d push the retro-funkiness even further. I want to smell the shag carpet and wood paneling in the rec room this goes in.

This very nice design remote control device. Thank you very much for posting about it. Watch House Online || Watch Weeds Online

Please don’t promote this horrible company and their overpriced crap.

    @clay

The faceplate needs oak woodgrain contact paper–the endcaps need plastic chrome.

It’s a ploy to sell automatic lighting controls at $99 per outlet. It’s ugly, but people who lose remotes behind sofa cushions may find it useful. Given that it sits on the coffee table, I would have expected the designers to at least pay lip service to aesthetics.

Holy Crud, who in hell needs a monster like that, Peter Griffin maybe??! brainwave entrainment

I dunno — is it wrong that I covet this? I think it’s exactly the right kind of ugly.

  11. Skwid says:

    Holy Christ, that’s hideous!

  12. kaiza says:

Looks like it’s straight outta Star Trek: TNG.

  13. grimc says:

The designer took the opportunity to express his love for the 1986 Chrysler LeBaron GTS.

…Wait, this can’t be from Monster. It’s not hideously overpriced!!

  16. MartinTSI says:

The only hope is that it’s a grower. Certainly first impressions are that it’s a little ugly! I like the idea of a nice retro controller, but this doesn’t quite hit the spot for me. MartinTSI

Why are these clowns even getting press? I would think with as many people knowing what a sham they habitually are they’d be completely beneath any sane persons radar.

My favorite part of their press release: “Elegant Design to Match Every Décor”.

Maybe if your décor is the Moloko Milk Bar on board the “Space 1999″ moonbase.
