Joel, that is the LOOJ MARK ONE.

Irobot is desperate to dump these things, $30 is not a good deal. For most people, it will not do the job. I cannot recommend it.

I use one, but I have a hatch that leads on to my roof and I have the looj attached to a sturdy surf fishing rod (with a 360 degree swivel in the line, for when it does the "looj death roll") and a heavy bait-casting reel. If you can drop the looj in from above and keep a retrieval line on it, and you don't mind disassembling it to remove the NiCad battery for charging, and you don't mind that the charge algorithm is composed of you and a stopwatch (treat it like a cell phone and kill it in two charge cycles) then maybe the looj will work for you.

But for most people, the looj MARK ONE is a way to make a filthy, dangerous job more frustrating without reducing the filth or danger significantly.

Seriously, man. I bought mine the last time BB posted a link to it on Woot. I hear the new model (which has no whip antenna) is better.

Just to make it clear that I'm not a robophobe, I have two roombas and I love them. I wish I could afford a scooba - my friend James has one and it works great.
