Gadget Accessories: Are These Do's Or Don'ts?

If you're going to sport a full-on utility belt, as opposed to a more diminutive one, should it be mandatory that you also wear some legit combat gear, ninja boots, or a Batman cape?
Or are bikini-clad, big sunglasses-wearing, cigarette-smoking 20-somethings somehow entitled to co-opt anything and everything when it comes to fashion?
After the jump, other geeky tech accessories that are difficult to pull off, unless maybe you are a bikini-clad 20-something.*
This post is part of a theme day: BBG on Fashion
*Disclaimer: I'm just making conversation. I don't really care what anyone wears.**
*Actually, I lied. No one should wear this booze belt.

The only thing in the first picture that's giving me major problems are the shoes. Woof. Other than that, well, damn!!
Any headset is a major don't. I have yet to see anyone that doesn't look like a complete tool when wearing one.
The only gadget accessories I've seen that were any good were very, very stealthy modifications to existing concepts. Like a watch that has a USB drive hidden (and I mean completely hidden) in it. So there's not much point in considering its aesthetics from a 'gadget' standpoint.

Well, you and I certainly shouldn't wear it. That's for sure.

#1 - I agree about the headsets. But I did buy one each for my wife and myself for while we are in our cars. Though we call them our 'douche Bags' since when you wear one you look like a complete douche. Something I am willing to do to stay safe while driving however.

There is an LA design house called SkinGraft that makes gadget bags inspired by wild west gun holsters. Pricey but suitable for steampunks and goths. http://www.shophuntersandgatherers.com/collections/accessories

That hip holster with the thigh strap is perhaps a little too evocative of a gun holster. After just watching a video where an open-carry advocate gets hassled by a bunch of cops and ultimately let go I can't help but think that the same would happen

Yes, bikini-clad, big sunglasses-wearing, cigarette-smoking 20-somethings ARE somehow entitled to co-opt anything and everything when it comes to fashion.
Re shoulder holster with a jacket: makes perfect sense if you don't want the weight to ruin the fit of the jacket.

Erict, I certainly didn't mean people that wear them for function are tools... safety and functionality are important! I meant the folks that wear them all the time, regardless of whether they're in a car or even on the phone.

Being hip doesn't mean going boldly (lol) at it. Anyway, the USB wristband sounds cool but you are correct in saying that it makes the user feel and look young. Might consider to be a nice gift for the techie.

Some looks a bit inappropriate, like the first one, others looks a bit of showoff. But being a nerd, I'd happy to wear a shoulder holster. Lol.
