Most under-notebook cooling panels have a fixed-position fan. You may move this one around, to better hit the hot spots on your particular model.'

USB fans always seemed a bit of an odd idea to me. Most of the computer geeks I know, including some Apple geniuses, keep repeating over and over again that using the USB port to power any device will automatically cause your laptop to run hotter.

Powering the fan off of USB power would increase the temperature somewhat, depends on the model of notebook, and if the fan is efficient enough at least you can target the cooling to a specific area.

That being said, at first glance it does seem a little like combating global warming by leaving your refrigerator open. ;-)
