Sweet. I'm surprised by how modern it looks, compared to contemporary IBM equipment. It almost looks like something from the 80's. Except perhaps the round screen.
Now, the ash tray and cigarette lighter are two features I could get behind!
This *is* IBM equipment! MIT just designed it; only IBM had the manufacturing ability to pull off the production.
The console was made to be end-stacked, so rounded corners didn't make sense. The rest of the system looks very IBMish. Look up the SAGE core memory unit and check out the fifties lines on that puppy.
