Has there ever been a kiwi that has sounded mean or ominous? They’re the most adorable English speakers in the world.
Oh, there’s ever-so-slight nudity in this video, but it is not sexual in any way. [via @jonnodotcom]

Nice, careful camera work.
Favorite line: “So don’t pull it until you’re leaving the aircraft.”
Careful camera work?! Those angles were horrid! Pan down man!
Damn inflatable safety vests.
Was it just me, or was this the creepiest use of CGI in a long time? It took a bit to notice, but once I did, it was really frightening. Almost real, but not quite good enough to make in impossible to tell.
OK, entirely too careful camera work.
It took me far longer than it should to realize that they didn’t have any clothes on. Must be time for bed.
Theres also some bloopers and a commercial in this same style on their Youtube account.

Can someone clarify a social construct for me? Are they “nude” or not? They are covered (in a layer of paint); is that supposed to be conceptually different than very thin skin-tight fabric?
Would they be stopped by these airline fashion police?
(Likewise, a body with its skin removed is also not traditionally considered “nude”… even though it’s even more revealed than with the skin still on.)
To me, skin is just what keeps the blood on the inside and the rain and dirt on the outside. Some skin is sexy, but some faces are also sexy, and except for the weirdo burka regions of the world, we don’t insist on covering those up.
Zuzu, there is no explanation.
At some point in history humans started wearing clothes, and since then clothes have been the most visible layer of our personality and interface to the rest of the world. As such it is subject to a ridiculous amount of social norms and pressure to conform.
Humans seem to like social norms (and enforcing them on others) for the simple reason that it increases group cohesion, which, in most cases, is good for survival.
Kudos to Air NZ for playing with the taboo.
I immigrated to New Zealand about 5 years ago and I agree that, in general the kiwi accent is quite nice (there are about 5 or so separate accents in New Zealand, South South Island & South Auckland are pretty distinct from each other and the accent heard in this commercial).
Worst accent in the world: Suburban Melbourne:

More commentary on the Australian accent:

I was scratching my head wondering why they had stuck real heads on computer-generated bodies.
I didn’t realise until I read the comments that it was painted on.
@joel Have you never seen the All Black’s Haka? Or Maori battle dances?
Ominous indeed!
what exactly is an ear craft?
D’oh, stupid out-of-focus at the end!
I’m flying London to Auckland on an ANZ 737-300 on Thursday evening. I expect the cabin crews to dress like this at all times.
Will report back, with pics.
Nicola (the black hair one… right?) needs more exposure, if you know what I mean.
They do not move their upper lips up and down when they talk. Only side to side occasionally. So, to an American they always sound like they are smiling.
Not CGI. Just body paint (a damn-sight cheaper!).
Air NZ is currently campaigning on “no hidden costs” for their airfares, which is why everyone is nude and covered in body paint.
“Ever so slight nudity”? What? A bum crack? Heaven’s forbid!
They aren’t wearing any clothing, and it isn’t CG. It’s a full body paint job.
I can speak english but let me comment with indonesian lang.: Sebenarnya sih indah juga apalagi kalau pramugari di indonesia begitu semua, pasti tiket laku keras. Anybody want to translate..??
