Sony X-Series Walkman available

Sony's OLED walkman is now on sale. If you have so far avoided Apple's portable ecosystem, this is the last best reason to stay that way. [SonyStyle via Engadget. Pic from Akihabara News]

Format(s) Supported : Audio: MP3/WMA/AAC/L-PCM, Video: AVC(H.264/AVC)/MPEG-4/WMV DRM
You will note the lack of Ogg Vorbis, or any other format that might differentiate Sony from the other iPod wannabes.

A better screen, yay. (waves tiny flag listlessly, falls asleep)

Does a cheap Sansa have a real fake marble finish? I think not.

Hang on - does that picture really say "Another wannabe"? :o

Unfortunate choice or deliberate subversion?

I really want other companies to compete with Apple. but I gotta admit one thing that keeps the iPod touch a more worthy buy is third party apps. this Walkman, no matter how good it is, at the end of the day is just it, a Walkman. while with iPod touch you can install the craziest app there is and make it so much more.

...So, how long does it take a 13-year-old to figure out there's no "Metal/Normal" button on this thing? :-P
