Love gdgt. Looking at it, I thought of myself - that's so obvious, a place to brag/rant about your gadgets along with your friends.
Here's my profile page:

Looks good so far.
However, I added an Apple II plus profile and, after all of that work, it is nowhere to be found :-(
Also, I hope they add a repository for user manuals in the product pages. That'd be killer.

@2 Brasil,
You have to wait for your newly created content to be approved.

I think that when you add a new gadget, it gets submitted for moderation, then the mods/admin put up the page once that's done? I guess to stop there being multiple pages for the same products.
Oh, and this is me.

http://user.gdgt.com/brandonnn/ I'm over here, though I haven't had nearly enough time yet to start digging.

Brasil,
A page for user manuals? That's brilliant. I'd love a one-stop resource for all those books I misplace.

AGIES, James, Thanks for the reply!
I figured since the site was setup as a Wiki, the users would moderate. Guess not.
MCCRUM,
I started a discussion about the user manuals on product pages:
http://discuss.gdgt.com/gdgt/feedback/user-manuals-in-product-pages/
Hopefully it'll get implemented.

Still trying to dedicate enough time to really get into it (it'll be awesome if/when they get an iphone-friendly version up)

That's great. I added an entry for the Atari 2600 but it has yet to appear.

Added a couple companies and products, all are still in the moderation process. Unfortunately, I can't add some of the other items until the companies are added.

It looks interesting, but the categories seem a little thin-- can we add new ones? For instance, where should I add the Popcornhour media player? It feels like a more amorphous tag-based rather than hierarchical category-based would work better.
The site seems like it could be a great resource for gadget designers, where they could really tap into what it is that people want.

Neat idea, I'll have to update my profile when the site isn't being hammered nine ways to Sunday.

I'm wondering whether they'll accept coffee machines, etc. as gadgets? I'm also doubtful about their manual approval process and how long they can keep it up before they become overwhelmed - surely a better idea would simply let users flag any questionable content?

I think their profile really needs a field for "first gadget", with a friend finder algorithm that shows you who else had the same first gadget. This was mine (such great design):

Apparently they've stopped accepting submissions for new gadgets. Fingers crossed that one of the thousands already submitted is the Commodore 64...

Been kind of buggy (UI-wise) and slow ('cause it just launched, I suspect…), but definitely showing promise… Haven't played around too much yet for the two aforementioned reasons, but regardless, I'm hohum there, too.

Seems fun and useful, although it took a while to fill out my current laptop.
