BBQ Tip: Try An Infrared BBQ & Talking Thermometer

To celebrate 4th of July, I dropped by Wired to play with the Solaire Anywhere Portable Grill and Oregon Scientific's Wireless Talking BBQ Thermometer. Note: Sorry for the pre-roll ad. No more pre-roll. Thanks, YouTube!

Why do you touch the meat so much when its raw and first on the grill?

Also. Cool idea with the pre-roll ad, they rerun it at the end too. Just in case it wasn't annoying enough the first time.

Talking appliances are the way of the future. Anyone for toast?

Ads? I see no steenkeeng ads. Maybe because I'm in the UK?

Doesn't anyone know about 'feeling the base of your thumb while touching your thumb and index/middle/ring finger method of judging doneness?

/Knows who to do square roots with a pencil and paper.

Better pry the raw meat up with my fingers to see if that 2 seconds of smokeless exposure has garnered us any results! (??)
Nothing?
Well then, what if I massage the meat into the grill a little?
Still nothing?
Well I'm out of ideas.

Please tell me you were just making a dent in that 2-Liter bottle of soda to get the entire bottle of 151 in there or something.
It's a plausible excuse, and possibly the only one. :p

Happy 4th every one. :D

Sorry I couldn't see the video -it took about an hour to download the pre-roll ad over a wireless connection, and then I was still waiting for the video...I had to cut my losses at that point. It would be a challenge to find a way to make it more annoying. The authentication image for the e-mail is pretty sketchy too.
