Louis Vuitton's fancy Apollo-inspired trunk

Starting today, you can see this very schmancy Louis Vuitton trunk that has been custom-made for the 40th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing at the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the Museum of Natural History in NYC.

There's no good way to say this, so I'm just gonna for it: giant metal buttplug.

There is just plain no way they were seriously launching this product without seeing that first.

...That's exactly what I was going to say: a giant metal buttplug.

Wow. When I look at this, I just see something that looks like an egg. An egg that folds out into a cool trunk.
Thank you for educating me about buttplugs Brandon, Dean & O_M.

...Of course, I do *not* speak from actual...er, "hands on" experience. I just reiterate what I've learned from reading Boing Boing :-P

My first thought was of a Battletech dropship. Probably the metalic finish that threw me off. Metal buttplugs are so cold.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who thought it was a buttplug.
Then I thought it was a buttplug that had been altered to hide an EZ kitchen for a Barbie doll.

Seriously? I thought of a Faberge egg first; the patterns remind me of some of the famous elaborate gold and enamel work, and Faberge did make a (shiny) chrome egg to commemorate the Romanov daughters assisting as nurses during WWI.
This is too round to be your *average* buttplug, as far as I've seen. Butt plugs tend to be slightly more pointed at the top to ease entry.

I suppose it looks like an egg. An egg with a flared base so you don't lose it in your ass.
