Do US cellphones have the ability to read QR codes? Or where could one get a primer on learning more on QR codes?

i-nigma.com has a free reader that seems to support many phones. You can also create your own qr codes on their site. Couldn’t get it to read the code in that video though.

I’ve done a fair bit of travelling in Japan, and having the ability to read QR codes is a boon. I use BeeTag or Snapper 2D; some images work better with one app than the other – no apparent reason why.

Despite the crap camera in the iPhone 3G, it does work (barely) if the code is big enough.

No matter what, qr code will only work after the fifth shot for me.

Yes, many new US-market phones can read QR codes.

For example, most Nokia phones with S60 come with a code reading application. I’ve seen a few magazine ads and even street posters with QR codes in the states, but nothing like the volume and diversity of QR applications I encountered in Japan.

On Android, after a couple attempts couldn’t get it to work.

So far, the QR Code scanner on my Nokia E71x hasn’t missed a beat – didn’t come installed on the phone, but was a no-brainer d/l+install form Nokia’s site.

As COOP sez, QR Codes are big in Japan – a more developed cell phone culture there, methinks. John Young/Chris Thompson (meatcards!) are messing w/ QR Codes at toynbeecodes.com as am I at mtoynbee.com (yes, bloghoor – also, click thru to the blog – there’s a video of code scanning).
