Gadget lover builds real-life lollercopter

Wu Zhongyuan, 20, of Luoyang, China, built this real-life lollercopter from elmwood and steel pipe. It cost less than £1,000 to build, and Zhongyuan claims to have gotten it to 2,600 feet--enough to get in trouble with aviation authorities!

I call shenanigans on that thing getting to 2,600 feet.
This looks like a job for mythbusters.

Isn't it traditional to illustrate reports of flying machines with pictures of them, you know, flying?
To my untutored eye, rather than conveying the impression of a machine capable of rising 2,600 feet in the air, the collapsed front wheel and the shadow of a roof or tarp directly over the contraption suggest that it's not capable of going anywhere, except possibly downwards a couple of inches if the other shopping cart wheels collapse as well.

That does not look like it can go very high. I'd like to see some video on this thing. If he did indeed create this helicopter, why hasn't some company already snatched this guy up.
