Exos arm brace is waterproof, radiolucent, easy to remove, and looks cool

EXOS Arm Braces_w Boa Lacing System.jpg

The Exos arm brace is a new waterproof, radiolucent fracture brace that comes in some really cool colors and is adjustable by Boa lacing. All this basically means that you can now swim, shower, and get x-rays without having to remove the brace &mdash and when you do need to take it off, you just have to release the dial to loosen. Comes in sizes small, medium, and large. Neat!

Hmm, I wonder if you could trust a child, or even a teen, with it. With the ability to quickly release it, I wonder how many would have the self control not to relax it a bit too much too early =)

Otherwise, very cool. About time tech went forward there! How long til they’re BlueTooth compatible?

How long before the Goth/Industrial crowd picks them up as fashion accessories? :P

I have the perfect bow for this.

I have to go in today to my rheumatologist as my right wrist has been KILLING me I think my last brace is finally dead.

It was a custom job, crappy piece of plastic that was bathed in boiling water, cut and molded to my forearm. Looked like $2 worth of plastic…I ended up painting it, decorating it with an ex’s Urban Decay nail polish (very industrial), rivitting on some 3M industrial Velcro because the stuff the hospital used came off after a week and adding a ‘biner loop. This one now works even underwater.

Sadly, after a few climbing falls, I’ve bashed the hell out of it! (I only use it for simple stuff…and can pull it off if I need to have some wrist strength…mostly I use this so that I have the wrist strength when I need to, otherwise my forearm is too inflamed for the tendons to work properly). I think 5 years is enough for any one piece of medical equipment…I might have to show my doc this page and ask him how to order one of these!

    Anyhoo…
