A $3,000 steampunk thumbdrive
If this had been made in 1886, three grand might be a convincing price tag.
This drive was featured on Geeky-Gadgets.com with the remark " I am still unsure why it is being sold for $3,000, unless it was a typo and it should be $300." Nope, it's not a typo, $3,000 is simply what it would take to pry the drive out of my hands and take it from my world into yours.
As it happens, many of artist Will Rockwell's similar designs are much more affordable. Check out the Spirit Harvester!

I think he's just saying "I like it and don't want to sell it, but if you must have it..."

A few years back I was given a brass WWI reproduction lighter that looks like it would be an interesting flash drive barrel too.
Bummer I don't have access to fabrication facilities to do it up like I'd like to.
These projects are inspiring.

I expect to see "Ryan Industries" in a really art deco-y typeface on that drive. However awesome, 3 grand is ridiculous and can't be real unless this thing magically houses 100TB of data or something.

Why am I reminded of that Winston Churchill joke(*)?
(*)A drunken Churchill asks a society matron "Would you sleep with me for a million pounds?"
The matron allows that, perhaps, she might.
Churchill then asks her, "Would you sleep with me for a pound?"
The matron huffs, "Mr Churchill! What kind of woman do you take me for?"
And Churchill replies "We've already settled that, madam, now we're negotiating the price."

Ha, I appreciate that. He's got his price, even if it's something he'd rather keep. If you want it bad enough to pay $3,000 for it, he'll let it go, but you're a crazy person.

For $3000, shipping ought to be free, at least.
