He can’t write (his spelling and grammar are atrocious), and he can’t figure out how to get his iPod out of shuffle mode. Why is this fellow a gadget writer?

  2. styrofoam says:

I’m half torn between this and the Clip+.

Clip downside seems to be navigability- I _assume_ the walkman is a bit more navigable.

The Clip+ supports extra SD cards, which is a potential win.

The Clip+ supports OGG and FLAC which is a theoretical win, but it’s not like I’m going to go back and re-rip my libary, so that’s not a huge plus in my situation.

Both support NOT USING A GODDAMNED MEDIA LIBRARY SYSTEM THAT WON’T LET ME ADD MUSIC WHEN I’M NOT AT HOME. Sorry, was that out loud?

What kind of world do I live in that I’m considering buying a sony product because it doesn’t come bundled with all sorts of infuriating proprietary crap?

  3. mkultra says:

Hey, it takes all kinds. I don’t personally get the Walkman appeal, but then I don’t understand the appeal of Furries and Slash fiction either.

    To each their own.

  4. styrofoam says:

(I see what you did there. Very nice!)

Anything that lets me do that amazingly complicated process of “getting my music onto my player, regardless of which computer I happen to be using” gets points in my book.

If there’s a comparable way to do this on an iPod or a Zune or something else with fanboy cred, I’m all for it- but I haven’t seen it. (And if it’s a hack, I don’t want to bother. I’m too lazy.)

(I also understand that there was a pretty low tolerance for slash and furries in the Nazi party. (DAMN YOU GODWIN.))
